With overnight hard frost on Saturdays snowfall, discression left our cars at Hazel Grove as we set off on a ten mile wander in the snow. Slightly familiar ground as we crossed the golf course, saw no balls, and no cars at the 19th, along the Middlewood trail and a pleasant coffee stop at 11. Onwards with a merger (Trafford ramblers) for a mile then into Lyme Park, over cage hill and down to the mill pond car park, enjoyed the sledging en-route, before heading over four winds and into pub (we needed an emergency pub stop) before returning to Hazel Grove. Our leader had to prove he could still read a map as no part of route was planned more than 10 minutes before we walked it! Lots of walkie points for snow, views, pre-booked weather, sledging, cafe stop, pub stop and even a chocolate shop. Lost points for distance exceeding published, ten miles in deep snow is a little much, sorry!
